Overview: The Tennessee Medical Education Fund, Inc. (TMEF) is an independent, nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation created by the Tennessee Medical Association in 1963 to provide scholarships to medical students in Tennessee medical schools, residents and physicians in medical school or practicing medicine in Tennessee.

Geographic Scope: Tennessee (state-specific)

Focus Areas: Medical education expenses only

Award Type: Need-based scholarships ranging from $2,000 - $10,000 per year, based on financial need as determined by applicable medical school financial aid ranking.

Eligible Medical Schools:

Eligibility Requirements

• Must be a citizen of the United States
• Must be a legal resident of the state of Tennessee as certified by the medical school in which enrolled
• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited medical school within the state of Tennessee (newly accepted students for the next academic year are not eligible to apply)
• Provide documentation of financial need to pursue a course of study in medicine by meeting Federal Unsubsidized William D. Ford Loan eligibility requirements
• Must be a member of the Tennessee Medical Association
