The Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) offers an annual research grant of up to $1,200 aimed at enhancing music education. Texas Music Educators Association is a professional association of almost 20,000 members, including 13,800 K–college music educators and 4,000 college music students. TMEA is dedicated to promoting excellence in music education.
TMEA is organized into 33 geographic Regions across the state, and TMEA members belong to one of five divisions: Band, Orchestra, Vocal, Elementary, College. TMEA members elect Region and state officers who represent them and administer TMEA’s business and programming. TMEA’s staff consists of nine full-time employees who work at the TMEA office in Austin.
TMEA will provide an annual research grant for up to $1,200 to support advancing knowledge in the area of music education.
While not restricted, the Board’s topics of interest include music teacher retention, music student retention, music student recruitment methods—especially those that increase representation in the music class, social emotional learning in music education, and cultural responsiveness in music education.
