Our Mission Our mission is to support and partner with communities to advance racial equity and eliminate health disparities through advocacy and strategic investments. Operating Grants Operating Grants provide unrestricted funds for health-focused nonprofits based on the budget of the organization. These grants are between $20,000-$50,000. Resilient Families Through our Resilient Families strategic priority, we invest in organizations that support the well being of children and young people ages 0-25, and their caregivers, through three approaches: Abuse Prevention Goal: To promote safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments for children and disenfranchised communities.Potential Funding Approaches:Fund organizations working with families to secure permanent housingFund systems-level solutions to childcare challenges beyond providing more seatsFund clinics that provide affordable primary and preventive medical careAward direct economic support to caregivers of children and young adultsFund organizations that advocate and advance women’s reproductive rights and the decriminalization of reproductive services. Violence Prevention and Justice SystemsGoals:To create and advocate for equitable youth justice systemsTo foster resilience in families impacted by incarcerationPotential Funding Approaches:Fund restorative justice programsInvest in violence prevention/criminal justice reformInvest in reentry and reunification with family membersFund systems-level solutions for equitable fees and finesMental HealthGoals:To increase the availability of clinical mental health and substance use disorder support for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC)To increase the availability of mental and emotional healing to support BIPOC children, young adults, and caregiversTo foster resilience through the prevention and mitigation of traumaPotential Funding Approaches:Partner to increase the number of BIPOC providers in the pipelineFund organizations that provide integrative healthSupport nonprofit organizations with a high percentage of BIPOC mental health providersEligibility

All applying organizations must:Be operating programs as a 501(c)(3) and have at least one year of financial statements.Have operating expenses of less than $20 million.Be in Tennessee and impact our geographic area.For the Resilient Families Strategic Priority:The Trust partners with nonprofits that impact Bedford, Maury, Montgomery, and Rutherford countiesAlign with our Strategic PrioritiesWe will partner with and/or fund organizations that:Represent the community that it is trying to serveAre working to reduce or eliminate health disparitiesServe under-resourced communities, people who are underinsured or uninsured, and people that are disenfranchisedAre addressing the immediate needs of the community and/or is aimed at root causesAre anti-racist and are working to advance racial equityAre engaging with the community and lifting the community’s voiceNational organizations must have a Tennessee-based board, separate financial statements (including a 990 or an audit), and must have programs that impact our geographic area.Grants are awarded for one-year terms.Applicants are allowed to apply only twice per year (e.g. if an applicant is not awarded a grant the first time that they apply, they may make one more application attempt within a 12 month period). An organization may only have one operating grant at a time (e.g. organizations cannot have a Thriving Communities and Resilient Families grant simultaneously).Ineligibility
