The Giving Campaign

Purpose: The Piedmont Education Foundation's primary annual fundraising initiative to provide sustained financial support to Piedmont Unified School District (PUSD).

Geographic Scope: Piedmont, California

Background: The Giving Campaign is PUSD's most important fundraiser. The district depends on PEF funding of approximately $1.8 million annually (as of 2015). Recent campaigns have raised $2.1 million (2018-19) to $2.5 million goals.

Key Statistics:

• 2016-2017: $2,474,233 grant approved
• 2018-19: Record $500,000 raised in first two weeks
• Funds represent approximately 8% of the District's annual budget

Focus Areas: The grant supports:

• Tier 1 (Ongoing Programs/Teachers): Class size reduction, counseling, electives at middle and high school, classroom aides, math and science educators, art teachers
• Tier 2 (Instructional Support): Instructional materials, professional and curriculum development, student support services, short-term pilot programs, K-12 wellness programs, assemblies, field trips
• Programs across K-12 including visual and performing arts, athletics, technology, libraries, and counseling services

Eligibility: Open to Piedmont community including current parents, parents of alumni, grandparents, and community members without children

Grant-Making Process: Administered through a 21-member PEF Grants Committee including board members and community representatives who meet with the Superintendent to align funding with district priorities and LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan) goals.
