Field Trip Grants

Overview: The Field Trip Grant Program funds and provides transportation for field trips that send thousands of students to engage with community organizations. PEF allocates a field trip budget to each PUSD school annually.

Geographic Scope: Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD), including Altadena and Sierra Madre

Funding Volume:

  • Approximately 300 field trips funded annually

  • Thousands of students served

  • Open year-round (rolling applications)
  • Eligible Destinations/Partners:

  • Aquariums

  • Performing and visual arts institutions

  • Nature centers

  • Science centers

  • Museums (e.g., Natural History Museum)

  • Other community cultural, scientific, and historical resources in Pasadena area and surrounding communities
  • Eligible Applicants:

  • PUSD teachers

  • PUSD principals

  • PUSD schools
  • Educational Value:

  • Recognized as important moments in learning

  • Provide shared social experiences

  • Allow students to encounter and explore novel things in authentic settings

  • Enrich and expand curriculum

  • Strengthen observation skills through immersive sensory activities
