The Delesky-Wetmore Scholarship Grant

The Delesky-Wetmore Scholarship, established in October 2025 by Cathy Delesky and Doug Wetmore through the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, aims to support high school seniors in Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton, or Colleton Counties, South Carolina. This scholarship focuses on students with financial need pursuing a four-year degree in STEM, finance, or economics, requiring a minimum GPA of 3.5 and above-average ACT or SAT scores.

Community Foundation of the Lowcountry
In 1994, a group of visionary Lowcountry community leaders recognized the need to create a community foundation. Through the sale of the nonprofit Hilton Head Hospital, Hilton Head Island Foundation, Inc. was born, with a mission to provide philanthropic leadership to a growing community. In 2001, our service area expanded to include northern Beaufort County, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper Counties.
With more than $125 million invested in the Lowcountry area since 1994, Community Foundation of the Lowcountry is the largest source of unrestricted philanthropic resources dedicated to Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper Counties. We provide donors and nonprofits the steadfast philanthropic leadership to transform, empower and enhance the communities we serve.

The Delesky-Wetmore Scholarship was generously established in October 2025 by Cathy Delesky and Doug Wetmore. The purpose and focus of this scholarship fund is to provide scholarship support for qualified students with demonstrated financial need who are pursuing a 4-year post-secondary education at an accredited college or university.

Eligibility

Applicant must be a high school senior graduating from a public or private high school in Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton or Colleton Counties in South Carolina. Students may also be a legal resident of Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton or Colleton Counties in South Carolina, graduating from the South Carolina Governor’s School of Science and Mathematics or a qualified home school program.Applicant plans to pursue a degree in a STEM related, finance or economics major.Applicants must demonstrate outstanding academic accomplishments.Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.Applicants must score above average on the ACT or SAT achievement testApplicants must demonstrate financial need. Family financial information is required in addition to the FAFSA Summary Report.
