The Collins Foundation GO Grants

GO Grants are The Collins Foundation's responsive, general-operating grant program for organizations serving Oregon, funding arts and culture, child welfare and development, education, environmental protection, health equity, and broader quality-of-life work in Oregon communities. Single-year awards range from $25,000 to $100,000 with an average of $75,000, and multi-year grants of up to 3 years are offered to organizations highly aligned with the Foundation's goals and values; unless requested otherwise all grants are made as general operating grants. Tribal organizations are accepted where work benefits Oregon residents, and a fiscally-sponsored project may qualify through a fiscal sponsor. Stated exclusions - religious activities, K-12/charter school-day and higher-education institutions directly, urban hospitals in large health systems, academic research and animal welfare, government agencies/municipalities, chronic-disease programs for the general public, sports-focused programs, and individual scholarships. The Foundation has awarded over $310 million since 1947 and reports over 600 organizations completed the PAS in its first month. Entry is through the Foundation's six-step Partnership Alignment Process, which begins with the Partnership Alignment Screener (PAS) - a set of six multiple-choice questions assessing value alignment. The PAS opens in the spring and fall. Grant size is discussed with a Community Resource Strategist at the Organization Exploration step (step 4). Eligibility: organizations operating at least one year with a budget of at least $20,000, staff and leadership in Oregon, a documented non-discrimination policy, 501(c)(3) or Section 170(c)(1) governmental/Tribal status, and at least four independent board members.
