Program Overview

MPPT provides financial aid and assistance in the form of scholarships to local post-secondary students engaged in dedicated study of Theatre, Dance, and Music Performance.

    Eligibility

  • Current resident of Monterey County (permanent address must be within Monterey County, even if currently studying out of state or abroad)
  • Must provide proof of residency
  • Currently enrolled as a declared major in:
  • - Theatre - Dance - Any form of Music Performance (Instrumental or Vocal)
  • Enrolled in a certificated and/or licensed post-secondary institution of higher learning:
  • - Community or four-year college - Private Conservatory or Academy
  • GPA of 2.5 or above in coursework for the indicated major
  • Provide statement of financial need and intended use of scholarship funds
  • Provide letter of recommendation from current instructor/administrator

    Award Amounts

  • $1,000 for students enrolled in 4-year institution or academy
  • $500 for Community College students or those in 2-year academy programs

    Important Restrictions

  • One scholarship per student lifetime — if successful, applicants may not apply in subsequent years
  • Unsuccessful applicants may apply each year
  • Scholarship check provided directly to applicant

2. Application deadline: One month after the start of the current semester

    Required Materials

  • Completed application form
  • Proof of Monterey County residency
  • Current transcripts (PDF copies of unofficial transcripts acceptable)
  • - Must show GPA of 2.5 or above in major coursework
  • Statement of financial need and intended use of scholarship funds
  • Letter of recommendation from current instructor/administrator

    Submission

  • All materials must be received by MPPT no later than one month after the start of the current semester
