Teacher Enrichment Grants

Overview: Each fall, the Mercer Island Schools Foundation awards classroom grants directly to teachers to fund programs and resources that go beyond the regular curriculum.

Focus Areas:

  • Innovation grants that empower teachers to offer engaging, creative learning opportunities

  • Programs introducing innovative teaching methods, experiences, and resources

  • Academic enrichment and cultural experiences

  • Art, music, field trips, and hands-on learning

  • Projects that enhance curriculum, spark curiosity, and promote higher-level thinking
  • Geographic Scope: Mercer Island School District, Washington

    Eligibility:

  • Individual teachers or groups of teachers

  • Any instructional staff seeking consideration
  • Application Process:

  • School principal reviews application

  • Grant committee reviews and votes on funding

  • Applicants notified of approval status

  • Grant Timeline:

  • Tues, 10/14: Grant applications due

  • Week of 10/20: Principals review and prioritize applications

  • Week of 11/3: Collaborative meeting with MISF, PTA/PTSA's, and MISD to finalize grant funding

  • Thursday, 11/13: MISF Board meeting – presentation & approval of MISF grants

  • Week of 11/17: MISD assigns grant numbers and notifies teachers of approvals

  • Week of 11/27: MISF & PTA/PTSA reps schedule time with principals to drop banners in schools
  • How to Apply

    Application Process

    1. Submit online application for an enrichment grant
    2. Discuss technology needs with instructional technology coach, site tech, or building principal before submitting (if applicable)
    3. Discuss items with administrators and District before submitting grant application
    4. Application deadline: Monday, October 14th
    5. School principal reviews application and prioritizes
    6. Grant committee reviews application and votes on funding
    7. Receive notification from Foundation, PTA, or District when grant is funded
    8. Receive grant number for reference and billing purposes
