Overview

Teacher-Authored Grants - Fall Cycle

Geographic Scope: Dexter Community Schools (DCS), Michigan, US

Eligible Applicants: Dexter Community School staff members

Funding Focus: Grants for classroom and school initiatives that support student learning and enrichment

Key Details:

  • Fall grant cycle opens in early September

  • Awarded Fall Grant funds are available upon approval and expire June 30 of the same school year

  • All grant proposals must be reviewed by building Principal/Director BEFORE submission

  • All grant proposals for technology items will be pre-approved by DCS Technology Department for district compatibility

  • All grant proposals for furniture, playground equipment, and room modifications must be pre-approved by DCS and building Principal/Director

  • Grant items stay with the class or grade level for which they were originally purchased

  • Grant items are property of DCS and stay in the district

    How to Apply

    Application Process

    1. Preparation Phase:
    - Copy the Grant Submission Worksheet (available as Google doc) to develop your application
    - Have your Principal/Director review the proposal BEFORE submission
    - For technology items: Get pre-approval from DCS Technology Department
    - For furniture, playground equipment, room modifications: Get pre-approval from DCS and building Principal/Director

    2. Submission:
    - Use the online Grant Submission Form
    - Submit by October 31 (Fall deadline)
    - All proposals must be authored and submitted by DCS staff

    3. Post-Award Requirements:
    - Completion of Grant Impact Form (required for future grant proposals)
    - Share pictures and posts of grants in action
    - Mention EFD support in DCS Making Waves publication
