Joy in Teaching Grants

Members First Credit Union (M1) is awarding 40 Joy in Teaching Grants of $500 each, for a total of $20,000, to support Michigan educators in enhancing the educational experience for their students. The grants provide financial assistance for materials, equipment and resources necessary for classroom projects that positively impact the educational experience for students. The grant application period is September 15 to October 15, 2026, with recipients notified by November 30. All applicants must be educators teaching Pre-K through 12th grades and plan to continue teaching in the 2026-2027 school year; one application per teacher per school year; applicants do not need to be M1 members. The grants support classroom projects, essential supplies and new learning opportunities, and past uses included expanding classroom libraries, hands-on STEM projects, flexible seating, literacy programs, mental wellness resources and classroom air conditioning. Since the program began M1 has awarded $40,000 in Joy in Teaching Grants to Michigan educators.
