Purpose: Established by Dr. William L. Talbert to honor his parents and to encourage worthy students to pursue higher education. The scholarship honors his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William O. Talbert, and grandparents, Mr. Laurel Talbert and Mrs. Rena Talbert. the Talbert family farmed in the Robstown area from 1913 into the 1960s. Dr. Talbert was a CPA who applied modern accounting principles to the family farm and eventually became a university professor of accounting.
