Substance Abuse Recovery Grant Grant Purpose In collaboration with the City of Huntington, County Commissioners, the Town of Warren and the County Health Department, this grant is dedicated to combating substance abuse. Project Examples Substance abuse preventionEducationIntervention & recovery initiativesRecovery home transportationMoral Reconation Therapy (MRT)Botvin Lifeskills Training Program Grant Requests Grant requests will fall under one or more of the following categories regarding substance abuse: Prevention/Education -The goal of prevention/education is to foster a climate in which:Tobacco and illegal drugs are not used at all. Prescription and over-the-counter drugs are used only for the purposes for which they are intended. Pregnant and women who may become pregnant do not use alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs. Programs/strategies reach the general population, such as all students in a school or all parents of middle school students. First responders and the court system are properly trained to address the needs of at-risk individuals.Intervention/Enforcement -The goal of intervention/enforcement is to reduce the risk of harm and decrease problem behaviors that result from continued use of substances. The intent of the intervention/enforcement is to take action that decreases risk factors related to substance use disorder; enhance protective factors; and provide ongoing services, as appropriate.Treatment/Recovery -The goal of treatment/recovery is to improve social functioning through complete abstinence from substances. Treatment/recovery is the use of any planned, intentional intervention in the health, behavior, personal and/or family life of an individual suffering from substance dependency designed to help that person achieve and maintain sobriety, physical and mental health and a maximum functional ability.
