Short Description The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program provides vulnerable low-income adults age 60 and older $25 coupon booklets to purchase fresh fruits, fresh vegetables and honey at participating Farmers markets and roadside stands throughout the state. Illinois Statue Authorization N/A There are not currently any Illinois Laws, public acts authorizing this program. IDoA is receiving funding from IDHS who acquired a Federal Title XX SSBG and will provide $36,500 of their funds for the SFMNP for older adults. Objective These grant funds will assist in providing administration related funds to distribute SFMNP coupons and educate adults age 60 and older who qualify for the program how and where to use the coupons to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables and honey at local farmers markets.
