Who We Are Our Vision To improve the quality of life of the poor and underserved so they can live to their fullest potential, by initiating systemic change, enhancing community connections, serving as a community change agent to advocate for the poor, and promoting innovative strategies to impact the root causes of poverty. Our Mission The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton supports and furthers the mission and ministry of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine. The principal components of their ministry are health, education, and social services. The Foundation's focus is on issues of social justice relating to the poor and underserved in the Spirit of Jesus Christ. The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton is committed to addressing the needs of the poor and underserved by understanding the root causes of poverty, nurturing the growth of healthy communities, emphasizing youth and family, and measuring the outcomes of these efforts. The Foundation primarily serves Stark County, Ohio. However, requests are considered from Carroll, Holmes, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties in Ohio. In addition to its grantmaking, the Foundation serves as a convener, facilitator, and collaborator around community issues affecting the poor and underserved. The Foundation has three grantmaking and outreach categories: Good Samaritan and Responsive Grants Strategic Collaborations Foundation-led Initiatives Good Samaritan Grants Good Samaritan grants of $10,000 or less are available to support community-based programs that are largely volunteer-driven or programs of nonprofit organizations with annual operating budgets of under $100,000. The programs must be designed to meet the health, education, or social services needs of the poor and underserved.Eligibility
