Salem Community Foundation Scholarship

Overview: The Salem Community Foundation scholarship awards are designed to meet the needs of college sophomores, juniors, and seniors whose initial scholarship dollars following high school graduation had been discontinued.

Geographic Scope: Residents of Salem City / Perry Township

Award Amount: $1,400 - $2,200 per student

Eligibility:

  • Current students enrolled in a post-secondary undergraduate educational program

  • Residents of Salem City / Perry Township

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5

  • Minimum class load of 6 semester hours or 9 quarter hours

  • Application eligible for review three times for bachelor's degree work
  • Program History: Now in its 34th year, the foundation has awarded over $1 million in scholarships since 1991. In 2025-2026, 45 students were awarded scholarships totaling $112,400.

    Funding Sources: Scholarships are funded through 13 established endowment funds including:

    FAFSA Note: Applicants should submit either a FAFSA Submission Summary or 2023 Income Tax Form instead of the discontinued FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR).

    2. Submission Format: Adobe PDF editable form that must be printed
    3. Signature Requirement: Must be signed in ink (handwritten applications not accepted)
    4. Physical Format: Submit unfolded without paper clips or staples
    5. Deadline: All applications must be received by Wednesday, June 4, 2026
    6. Late Applications: Will not be processed
    7. Completeness: Only completed applications will be considered
