Rural Hospital Nursing Scholarship

Overview: Hopedale Medical Foundation offers scholarships for current nursing students and high school seniors pursuing a nursing career. This scholarship opportunity is in addition to the annual high school senior/college freshman scholarships announced in April each year.

Award Details

• Award Amount: Up to $15,000 per year for a maximum of 4 years ($60,000 total)
• Award Schedule: Annual awards possible over 4-year period
• Work Commitment: Recipients of a $15,000 scholarship must commit to work as a full-time RN at Hopedale Medical Complex (hospital or nursing home) for a minimum of 3 years after licensure. If applicant receives more than one $15,000 scholarship, the commitment period extends to 5 years following licensure.

Eligibility Requirements

• Current nursing students or high school seniors pursuing a nursing career
• Must enroll in a 2 or 4 year accredited nursing school located within 50 miles of HMC
• Special Consideration: Given to HMC current and former employees, medical staff members, and members of their immediate families (provided the candidate is not related by blood or marriage to any person making recommendations on the judging committee)

Scholarship Use

Scholarship monies can be used for:
• Tuition payment or repayment
• Room and board
• Books and supplies

Repayment Terms

• Failure to obtain a nursing license or work the required employment term requires the applicant to repay HMC any scholarship monies paid out with interest at the rate of 4.45%
