Program Overview
The John J. Murphy Scholarship honors John J. Murphy, a long-standing member of Food Shippers of America who spent over 40 years in the transportation industry and served 14 years as FSA Executive Director. The scholarship recognizes his contributions to the food logistics industry and FSA's mission as an educational and networking resource.

United States (based in Illinois)

Eligibility Requirements

Applicant Status: Child or dependent (including spouses) of an employee in a food company

Employer Type: Growers, processors, manufacturers, co-packers, food distributors, food service companies, or grocery retailers

FSA Connection: At least one member of the food company must have current Food Shippers of America membership dues

Academic Standing: Minimum 3.25 Grade Point Average (GPA) on 4.0 non-weighted scale during junior and senior years of high school OR if currently enrolled in undergraduate/graduate courses

Enrollment: Must be enrolled in a college program

Reapplication: Applicants may reapply unless they have previously received the top award

Additional Considerations

Preferred Major: Applicants with majors in Logistics or Supply Chain Management receive additional consideration

Other Majors Accepted: Business and other college majors are eligible

Merit-Based: Awards determined by review of submitted applications by current FSA Officers and Board members

Selection Process

Applications reviewed and selections determined by FSA Officers and Board members

Top award recipient invited to attend FSA annual conference for award presentation
