Overview

For over 100 years, The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) has been supporting the philanthropic interests of donors who want to effect change in their communities. Scholarships It is through the generosity of local individuals, families, and businesses that we are able to offer more than 190 scholarship opportunities. TFEC is the largest provider of scholarships in South Central, Pennsylvania, awarding over $1.7 million in scholarships to more than 400 local students alone through various scholarship funds administered by TFEC and through management agreements with the Samuel L. Abrams Foundation, the Leon Lowengard and Ray S. Shoemaker scholarships of BNY Mellon, N.A. and York Rotary Club. Roberta L. Houpt Scholarship The Roberta L. Houpt Scholarship Fund will assist students from Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties studying nursing at a college or university of their choice. This scholarship fund was established in 1998 by Lyndell S. Houpt, a long time secretary of the Camp Hill High School, in loving memory of her daughter Roberta L. Houpt, a nurse who served in the Vietnam War and was the first Nurse Practitioner in Pennsylvania. Ms. Roberta Houpt also taught nursing and died in 1991. Renewability Recipients of this scholarship may reapply for consecutive years.
