Rise Up Scholarship Fund

This scholarship was established by Sara A. Miura, a fifth-generation Kauai resident, when she was 30 years old. Sara founded this scholarship to benefit Kauai residents that wish to pursue post secondary education to enhance their lifelong learning and prepare them for their professions. This scholarship gives preference to students of divorced parents. Sara herself, is a child of divorced parents. While divorce or any negative experience is not a reason or excuse to aspire to less than their potential, Sara established this scholarship to shine a spotlight on this social and family issue that, in her opinion, should be taken more seriously, especially considering its effects on children. In this little way, she hopes to mitigate divorce and positively impact the lives of all families.

Scholarship funds have varying award amounts ranging from $1,000 or less to several thousand dollars. The award will depend on the size of each scholarship fund, the number of qualified applicants, and the preferences of the donor(s). The average award for students is approximately $6,000.
