Rachel Hendrix Memorial Scholarship

Overview: Two $1,500 annual scholarships honoring Rachel Hendrix, a former NIRA member and Southern Utah University student who passed away in 2014.

Award Description: One scholarship awarded to one boy and one girl annually

Purpose: To honor Rachel's passion for rodeo and western heritage by supporting students who share similar commitment to the sport

Geographic Scope: Nevada and Utah - restricted to students from these states

Eligibility:

  • Must be a college student who has completed at least one year of college

  • Must have at least one year of college remaining

  • Must be a former member of Nevada or Utah State High School Rodeo Associations

  • Minimum GPA: 3.2 - 3.7

  • Must demonstrate strong love and commitment to rodeo

  • Any skill level and experience level welcome

  • Background in western heritage is valued
  • Character Focus: Applicants should exemplify:

  • Drive and determination

  • Passion for the sport of rodeo

  • Commitment to western heritage

  • Excellence in multiple life areas (school, church, social circles, extra-curricular activities)

  • Work ethic and fervor for preserving western roots
