Race Equity Action Cohort

Overview: Program launched in 2024 to support nonprofits in advancing their organization's engagement in racial justice, equity, and inclusion.

Launch Date: 2024

Geographic Scope: Southwestern Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh region

Focus Areas:

  • Racial justice and equity

  • Organizational racial equity plans

  • Culture change and operational equity
  • Eligibility:

  • Organizations that have already started their journey to racial justice, equity, and inclusion

  • Organizations fully committed to advancing racial equity work

  • Nonprofit organizations in Pittsburgh region
  • Program Components:

  • Work with Equity in the Center staff

  • Development of organization's own Race Equity Plan following Awake to Woke to Work framework

  • Assessment of progress on key indicators using Race Equity Cycle Pulse Check™

  • Creation of action plan for implementing changes

  • Three full-cohort meetings

  • Four coaching sessions with Equity in the Center staff

  • Virtual facilitation
  • Participant Requirements:

  • Each organization selects a leadership team of at least four people to guide organizational process
  • Current Cohort: Ten nonprofits involved (as of 2024)
