R and J Matchett Scholarship Grant

The R and J Matchett Scholarship, initiated by the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry in 2007, supports students from Beaufort, Jasper, and Hampton Counties in their pursuit of post-secondary education. This scholarship is aimed at those who intend to study in technical or skilled labor fields at accredited institutions. Applicants must be high school seniors or recent GED recipients, demonstrate financial need, and plan to attend a college within a 150-mile radius of Hilton Head Island.

Community Foundation of the Lowcountry
In 1994, a group of visionary Lowcountry community leaders recognized the need to create a community foundation. Through the sale of the nonprofit Hilton Head Hospital, Hilton Head Island Foundation, Inc. was born, with a mission to provide philanthropic leadership to a growing community. In 2001, our service area expanded to include northern Beaufort County, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper Counties.
With more than $125 million invested in the Lowcountry area since 1994, Community Foundation of the Lowcountry is the largest source of unrestricted philanthropic resources dedicated to Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper Counties. We provide donors and nonprofits the steadfast philanthropic leadership to transform, empower and enhance the communities we serve.

The R and J Matchett Scholarship was established in 2007 to assist students in pursuit of a post-secondary education who plan to successfully complete a course of study in a current or emerging occupational, technical or skilled labor field at a technical college, trade school or community college.

Eligibility
