PROMISE Act Grants

Funder: West Central Initiative in collaboration with Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED)

Geographic Scope: West Central Minnesota counties: Becker, Clay, Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens, Traverse, Wilkin, and the portion of White Earth Nation in Becker County

Eligible Applicants:

  • Businesses and nonprofits

  • Must have primary operations in eligible counties

  • Must have filed tax return in 2021 and/or 2022

  • Gross annual revenue must not exceed $750,000

  • Must be currently operating at time of application

  • Must be registered with Minnesota Secretary of State if required by law

    • Allowable Uses:

  • Payroll

  • Rent or mortgage payments

  • Utility bills

  • Essential equipment purchases

  • Other business operational costs

    • Award Range: $10,000 - $50,000 per grant

    Program Background: Following approval of the Providing Resources and Opportunity and Maximizing Investments in Striving Entrepreneurs (PROMISE) Act by Minnesota State Legislature and signing by Governor Tim Walz. DEED allocated $86.48 million statewide. Designed to support businesses and nonprofits impacted by pandemic, supply chain challenges, and inflation.
