Project Support Fund

Funder: International Coalition of Sites of Conscience

Overview:
The Project Support Fund is a competitive grant program designed to support Coalition member sites in developing and implementing new, innovative programs and initiatives. The fund provides both financial support and technical capacity-building to member organizations.

Award Details:

  • Amount: Up to $7,000 grant paired with one-on-one consultations

  • Format: Grant + capacity-building training with Coalition staff

  • Organization Types: Museums, historic sites, memorials, memory initiatives, NGOs

  • Requirements: Must be committed to using history and place to promote human rights
  • Supported Project Types:

      Pilot and Incubator Projects

      The fund is designed for experimental, pilot, or incubator projects that allow members to test and innovate. Specifically encourages:
    • New thematic programs - programs on topics the site has never addressed before
    • New methodologies or technologies - programs using innovative approaches or tools
    • New audiences - programs reaching populations the site hasn't previously engaged
    • New evaluation methods - programs employing new impact assessment approaches

    Eligible Program Categories:

    On-site Projects: New and innovative public programs that inspire reflection and action on urgent issues, using new technologies/methods, or targeting new populations. Examples include:

  • Human rights education programs

  • Public dialogues on emerging issues

  • Programs creating or testing new impact evaluation tools
  • Peer Exchanges: Projects where members learn from one another, such as:

  • Site representatives visiting other sites to learn implementation strategies

  • Coalition directors, trustees, or staff providing technical advice

  • Sites seeking guidance on specific challenges from peer organizations
  • Advocacy or Mission Projects: Where Coalition leadership helps legitimize and consolidate public support for human rights or social justice issues through:

  • Sharing international expertise with local communities

  • Engaging with local authorities

  • Working with media

  • Innovative methodologies and technologies

  • Evaluation and assessment tools

  • Marketing and public promotion of programs

  • Step 2: Preliminary Consultation
    During this conversation, Coalition staff can:

  • Provide feedback on your overall project concept

  • Help with planning and execution strategies

  • Connect you with other Sites and experts who may serve as resources

  • Identify potential peer exchange partners
  • Step 3: Complete Application
    After the preliminary conversation, submit a completed application form:

  • Submission Method: Email to psf@sitesofconscience.org

  • Deadline: Must be submitted within announced deadlines (typically announced each summer)

  • Languages Available: Arabic, English, French, and Spanish
  • Step 4: Review Process

  • Grants are awarded by a Peer-Review Grant Committee

  • Review is competitive
