INTERNATIONAL COALITION OF SITES OF CONSCIENCE ("THE ORGANIZATION") IS A GLOBAL NETWORK OF MUSEUMS, HISTORIC SITES AND MEMORY INITIATIVES DEDICATED TO REMEMBERING AND CONNECTING PAST ATROCITIES, MASS HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES AND STRUGGLES FOR JUSTICE TO THEIR CURRENT LEGACIES IN ORDER TO FORGE MORE JUST, EQUITABLE AND PEACEFUL SOCIETIES TODAY. IT IS THE ONLY ORGANIZATION IN THE WORLD THAT PROVIDES THE RESOURCES THAT HELP SITES OF CONSCIENCE EVOLVE FROM PLACES OF PASSIVE LEARNING INTO CENTERS FOR CIVIC ENGAGEMENT THROUGH INNOVATIVE AND EFFECTIVE PUBLIC PROGRAMS. FOUNDED IN 1999 BY A GROUP OF NINE SITES ON FOUR CONTINENTS, THE ORGANIZATION HAS GROWN TO OVER 370 MEMBERS IN 70 COUNTIRES, WORKING IN ALL REGIONS OF THE WORLD.
