Police Agency Grants

The Crime Prevention Fund provides special request grants to police departments in their service area to support law enforcement operations and community safety initiatives.

Geographic Scope: Service area police departments (includes Minnetrista Public Safety Department and Orono Police Department)

Funding Focus Areas: Grants may be requested for:

• Special equipment needs
• Police officer and staff wellness programs
• Volunteer reserve officer support
• Police explorer programs
• Police chaplain programs
• Neighborhood outreach initiatives
• National Night Out events
• Drug take back programs
• Crime prevention projects
• Citizen academy programs
• Assistance for injured officers

Examples of Funded Projects:

• Electric patrol bikes
• Solar powered speed awareness signs
• Electronic speed awareness trailers
• Officer wellness and training centers
• Police chaplain programs
• Law enforcement explorer programs
• Police citizens academy

Eligibility: Police departments in the Crime Prevention Fund service area

Request Process: Police department officials may submit special request grants. Currently, Police Chiefs from the Minnetrista Public Safety Department and Orono Police Department serve as advisors and may request non-budgeted financial support consistent with the fund's vision, mission, and philosophy.

Application Process
