Geographic Scope: Downtown Long Beach, California, particularly public spaces and neighborhoods like the East Village Arts District

Program Description:
The DLBA awards placemaking grants to support projects that activate public spaces, improve community gathering areas, and enhance the vibrancy of Downtown Long Beach through creative projects.

Focus Areas:

• Public space activation
• Community art projects
• Mural and public art installations
• Neighborhood beautification
• Pedestrian-oriented improvements

Example Project:

• East Village Arts District Mural Expansion Project: Funded project to create 100+ murals throughout the alleys of the East Village Arts District (Frontenac and Liberty Courts from Ocean to 10th Street). Project aimed to turn alleys into an outdoor art gallery, increase foot traffic to businesses, reduce crime and littering, and increase community pride and sense of safety.
