Background

Founded in 2021 in memory of Philip Lee Murray, who passed away in 2020 from COVID-19. Philip had a lifelong dream of owning a farm and was inspired by his mother's gardening. Despite living in Henderson and Las Vegas for 29 years, he maintained a passion for agriculture and education. After his death, his wife Katrina established this fund to honor his memory and vision.

Program Goals

The fund provides students with:

Understanding of organic gardening and its importance

Opportunity to grow food from seed to harvest

Exploration of connections between food and nutrition

Valuable life skills that can be turned into entrepreneurial business ventures

Experience from building and creating greenhouses to harvesting plants
