About Us The Community Foundation brings people together to work towards a healthy, thriving, sustainable Eastern Connecticut. We put philanthropy into action to address the needs, rights and interests of our region, while fulfilling the passions of our donors. About Our Scholarships Since 1983, the Community Foundation has awarded over $11.9 million in scholarships from 136 funds established by generous individuals, families, businesses and nonprofits to help area students pursue an education and establish rewarding careers. Philip A. Turner Scholarship Established by friends and family in loving memory of Philip A. Turner, provides scholarships to New London students who have been involved with the Rotary Club of New London’s Interact organization at New London High School and who have demonstrated a strong commitment to community service. A secondary preference is for Norwich Free Academy students who have demonstrated a strong commitment to community service. In either case, the student(s) must be planning to major in Business or a related field, must be in good academic standing and must have demonstrated financial need.
