Summary
The PAAoS Scholarship Award Program, initiated by the Polish-American Association of Sarasota, Inc., aims to enhance the understanding of Polish culture among American students of Polish descent. Eligible candidates must demonstrate their Polish heritage and knowledge of Poland's geography, history, and literature during the interview process. This program not only supports students academically but also fosters a deeper appreciation for Polish traditions and contributions to society.Overview
About Us Since 1975, The Polish-American Association of Sarasota, Inc. (PAAoS) has been a leader in promoting the rich Polish history, culture, traditions, and language. The PAAoS sponsors many activities designed for not only its many members, but also anyone interested in learning more about one of the world’s strongest nations – and a major ally of the United States … dating back to America’s War for Independence. Monthly meetings (September – May) feature lively and friendly conversation that includes fun food and refreshments. In addition, the PAAoS sponsors annual musical concerts, periodic lectures, awarding of scholarships, and celebrating General Casimir Pulaski Day in October and Polish Independence Day in November when the Ignacy Paderewski Civic Achievement Awards are presented. The PAAoS also supports the activities of other Polish organizations on the Suncoast, including the Mikołaj Kopernik Polish Saturday School in Sarasota. The Polish-American Association of Sarasota, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization. The PAAoS is also a proud member of the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County. Scholarship Award Program The purpose of the scholarship program is to promote the knowledge of Polish culture among American students of Polish descent. Candidate must have at least one parent of Polish origin/descent. During the interview student candidates for scholarship must demonstrate interest in their Polish heritage by showing basic knowledge of Poland’s geography, history and literature.Eligibility

Must be a graduating high school student or attending college in Florida and a resident of Sarasota/Manatee County.A resume describing family background, Polish ancestors, studies completed, school activities, plans and goals for the future, financial situation.Familiarity with the following subjects: Basic geography of Poland. Basic knowledge of Polish history.
