Nick Pantalone Memorial Scholarship Fund Grant

The Nick Pantalone Memorial Scholarship Fund, established by The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, honors the life of Nicholas “Nick” Pantalone, who bravely fought a rare cancer. This one-time scholarship supports high school seniors from select counties in Pennsylvania who maintain a 3.0 GPA, demonstrate financial need, and are involved in Mini-Thon or have personal cancer experiences. With over a century of philanthropic excellence, TFEC continues to empower local students through generous scholarship opportunities.

For over 100 years, The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) has been supporting the philanthropic interests of donors who want to effect change in their communities.
Scholarships
It is through the generosity of local individuals, families, and businesses that we are able to offer more than 190 scholarship opportunities. TFEC is the largest provider of scholarships in South Central, Pennsylvania, awarding over $1.7 million in scholarships to more than 400 local students alone through various scholarship funds administered by TFEC and through management agreements with the Samuel L. Abrams Foundation, the Leon Lowengard and Ray S. Shoemaker scholarships of BNY Mellon, N.A. and York Rotary Club.
The Nick Pantalone Memorial Scholarship Fund honors Nicholas “Nick” Pantalone who was a brother, son, friend and Four Diamonds child. He passed away in 2013 from a 3 year battle with desmoplastic small round cell tumor, an extremely rare yet aggressive form of cancer that creates large masses in the abdomen that can spread to vital organs if gone undiagnosed. This disease is so rare that fewer than 200 cases have been reported and it has a 15% 5-year survival rate.
Nick possessed a love for life and was blessed with a heart of gold. For the 19 years that he lived on this earth, he touched the lives of many with his optimistic words, caring demeanor and encouraging spirit. Whether he was acting in school plays or working as a ride operator at Hersheypark, he was a role model and positive example for all who knew him. Though his battle with cancer was strenuous, he never complained; his grace and courage made him an inspiration to all who knew him.
Renewability
This scholarship is a one-time only award.

Eligibility

For high school seniors located in the following counties: Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, Perry, and the northern part of York County (Dillsburg area)
Full or part time attendance at a four-year, two-year college, university, or trade school
3.0 GPA or higher
Involvement in Mini-Thon or personal experience with someone diagnosed with cancer
