For over 100 years, The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) has been supporting the philanthropic interests of donors who want to effect change in their communities. Scholarships It is through the generosity of local individuals, families, and businesses that we are able to offer more than 190 scholarship opportunities. TFEC is the largest provider of scholarships in South Central, Pennsylvania, awarding over $1.7 million in scholarships to more than 400 local students alone through various scholarship funds administered by TFEC and through management agreements with the Samuel L. Abrams Foundation, the Leon Lowengard and Ray S. Shoemaker scholarships of BNY Mellon, N.A. and York Rotary Club. The Abby Hornung Memorial Scholarship Fund The Abby Hornung Memorial Scholarship Fund honors the life of Abby Hornung by helping to fund a student who is pursuing a degree in social work or a related mental health field. As a loving daughter, sister, and friend, Abby devoted herself to caring for and supporting others. This scholarship intends to encourage this same passion for helping others by supporting those interested in becoming mental health professionals. Be the reason someone feels welcomed, seen, heard, valued, loved, and supported. Renewability This scholarship is a one-time only award.Eligibility
You can learn more about this opportunity by visiting the funder's website. Student who graduated high school from Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, and Perry Counties or the Dillsburg area. Student should be attending school for social work or a similar mental/behavioral health related program or field of study Student should be attending a 2-year, 4-year, or graduate level program at a college/university, trade/technical school, or be enrolled in a certificate program. GPA of 2.5 required Must submit 2 letters of recommendation: 1 from a school counselor and 1 from a community member/mentor Essay required of 300 words or less: What inspired you to pursue a career in the mental health field, and how did your experiences shape this decision?
