NOTE: Eligible entities include nongovernmental organizations with a fiscal agent that is a political subdivision of the state. New Mexico Clean and Beautiful Grant Program (NM) The Tourism Department partners with communities to Keep New Mexico True by providing funding and technical assistance to municipalities, counties, Tribal Governments, and units of government on litter eradication, waste reduction, and community beautification initiatives. Purpose The purpose of the New Mexico “Litter Control and Beautification Act,” NMSA 1978, § 67-16-1 et seq., is to accomplish litter control by vesting in the New Mexico Tourism Department (Department) the authority to eliminate litter from the state to the maximum practical extent. The Department shall aid in establishing a statewide Keep America Beautiful Program through the New Mexico Clean and Beautiful Grant Program to end littering, improve recycling, and beautify New Mexico communities.
