National Safety Excellence Awards (NSEA)

Overview: The ABC National Safety Excellence Awards recognize companies who exhibit a continued commitment to jobsite safety and whose safety performance and programs are judged to be exemplary by the ABC National Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Committee.

Geographic Scope: National ABC program

Evaluation Basis:

  • STEP application data

  • Essay questions

  • Video interviews with company Presidents/CEOs/Principals about corporate safety culture

    • Award Categories:

  • Based on company's total work-hours per calendar year

  • Placement within North American Industry Classification System (NAICS)

    • Eligibility:

  • STEP Diamond and Platinum recipients (automatic eligibility at no cost)

  • STEP Gold recipients (may apply for $450 application fee)

    • Application Availability:

  • Mid to late September each year

    Application Process

    For STEP Diamond & Platinum Recipients:
    1. Automatic eligibility - no additional application required
    2. Complete required essay questions
    3. Prepare video interview with company President/CEO/Principal

    For STEP Gold Recipients:
    1. Submit application form
    2. Pay $450 application fee
    3. Complete required essay questions
    4. Prepare video interview with company President/CEO/Principal

    Deadline: Mid to late September (typically by early October)

    Required Materials:

  • Essay responses about corporate safety culture

  • Video interview with leadership

  • STEP application data (previously submitted)
