Overview: Established in 1989 by ABC National Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Committee. Developed and written by contractors, for contractors. A comprehensive safety evaluation program.

  • Fee applies for STEP Diamond or Platinum levels

  • Fee applies for paper applications

  • ABC/TEXO member construction companies

    Application Process

    1. Complete STEP application form (available mid to late October)
    2. Submit online (recommended - no charge for standard application)
    3. May submit via paper application (fee applies)

    Deadline: Mid to late October (typically by end of November)

    Application Levels:

  • Standard (no charge)

  • STEP Gold (fee applies)

  • STEP Diamond (fee applies)

  • STEP Platinum (fee applies)

    • Note: STEP Diamond and Platinum recipients are automatically eligible for National Safety Excellence Awards (NSEA) at no additional cost.
