Mission The central purpose and role of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Scholarship Foundation Program established by the Muscogee (Creek) National Council is to promote self-sufficiency, proactive community participation, self-reliance, self-determination, tribal sovereignty, and a sustainable future for Muscogee (Creek) Nation citizens through traditional gift-giving and support of academic scholarship, community initiatives, and research that benefit the growth and prosperity of Muscogee (Creek) Nation communities. The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Scholarship Foundation Program is a Muscogee (Creek) Nation tribal government non-profit program qualified under Section 7871(a) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. This status is only afforded to federally recognized tribes. All contributions to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Scholarship Foundation Program are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Fostering Care Scholarship Description Youth who have been in out of home care and involved in the foster care system often face extreme challenges of high school drop-out, homelessness, teen pregnancy and the list goes on. Foster youth who have been successful in overcoming the odds, site education as being their anchor that helped them achieve personal success. The Fostering Care Scholarship has been established for Mvskoke students who have been a part of the foster care system (Indian Child Welfare or state Child Welfare systems) through out of home care or placement to assist with Total Cost of Attendance needs while attending post-secondary education. This scholarship is designed in honor of the many Mvskoke foster youth who have achieved their education goals, those who are in progress and those who are yet to realize their personal potential. Purpose The purpose of this scholarship is to financially assist Muscogee (Creek) Nation students that might not otherwise have the financial means to further their education. This scholarship award can be utilized to pay for the required cost of tuition, fees, books, tools, supplies, testing or examination fees, transportation, or other incidental required cost related to the cost of the post-secondary education institution. This scholarship is to be awarded to a Muscogee (Creek) Nation student who has suffered the loss of a parent before turning the age of 18. The student must be attending an institution of higher education, a technical school or vocational trade school and was out of home placement for at least six months after the age of 13. Must be currently attending an institution of higher education or enrolled as a first-time entering student. Must show proof that the student was a Ward of the Court for at least six months after the age of 13 and resided in home care placement.Must agree to authorize the Scholarship Foundation Program to publicize scholarship award if selected.Students may submit one application per semester.Required Documents -In order to be considered for a scholarship please submit the following:Completed Scholarship Application Form Muscogee (Creek) Nation Citizenship ID Card Personal essay Educational records: Official high school transcript or GED certificate, or most recent college transcript.
