Muscogee (Creek) Nation Scholarship Foundation: Lawrence and Rita Olson Scholarship Grant

The central purpose and role of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Scholarship Foundation Program established by the Muscogee (Creek) National Council is to promote self-sufficiency, proactive community participation, self-reliance, self-determination, tribal sovereignty, and a sustainable future for Muscogee (Creek) Nation citizens through traditional gift-giving and support of academic scholarship, community initiatives, and research that benefit the growth and prosperity of Muscogee (Creek) Nation communities. The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Scholarship Foundation Program is a Muscogee (Creek) Nation tribal government non-profit program qualified under Section 7871(a) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. All contributions to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Scholarship Foundation Program are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Description
Lawrence E. Olson Jr. grew up in Oklahoma during The Great Depression of the 1930’s. Decedents of Larry and Rita Olson have benefited from the assistance of the Muscogee Nation as Tribal members. Giving back to the Muscogee Nation is an honor and a privilege.
Purpose
This scholarship award can be utilized to pay for the required cost of tuition, fees, books, tools, supplies, testing or examination fees, transportation, or other incidental required cost related to the cost of the post-secondary education institution. Specifically, this scholarship is established for a student pursing a degree in the field of Natural Resources: wildlife, biology/ecology, botany/horticulture, hydrology, geology, forestry, geography, fisheries, soil science, pathology/entomology, fire-science, and /or wild-land fire management, wild-land law enforcement, or another closely related field of study that involves the area of Natural Resource Management or Research.

Eligibility

Must be an enrolled citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.
Must be currently attending an institution of higher education or enrolled as a first-time entering student.
Must be in the field of Natural Resources or closely related field.
Must demonstrate financial need.
Must agree to authorize the Scholarship Foundation Program to publicize the scholarship award if selected.Students may submit one application per semester.Required Documents -In order to be considered for a scholarship please submit the following:Completed Scholarship Application Form
