Muscogee (Creek) Nation Scholarship Foundation: Opothle Yohola Trail of Tears Scholarship Grant

The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Scholarship Foundation offers the Opothle Yohola Trail of Tears Scholarship to support Creek descent undergraduate students in their educational pursuits. This scholarship, valued at $500, aims to promote self-sufficiency and community participation among Muscogee citizens. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in an accredited institution and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. The scholarship is part of a broader initiative to support the growth and prosperity of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.

The central purpose and role of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Scholarship Foundation Program established by the Muscogee (Creek) National Council is to promote self-sufficiency, proactive community participation, self-reliance, self-determination, tribal sovereignty, and a sustainable future for Muscogee (Creek) Nation citizens through traditional gift-giving and support of academic scholarship, community initiatives, and research that benefit the growth and prosperity of Muscogee (Creek) Nation communities. The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Scholarship Foundation Program is a Muscogee (Creek) Nation tribal government non-profit program qualified under Section 7871(a) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. All contributions to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Scholarship Foundation Program are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Description
The Trail of Tears Memorial Association Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student of Creek descent attending an institution of higher education. The Trail of Tears was a forced relocation during the 1830s of Native Americans of the southeast region of the United States. The scholarship is provided through the Trail of Tears Memorial Association scholarship fund.
Purpose
The purpose of this scholarship is to financially assist an undergraduate student in their pursuit of postsecondary education.

Eligibility

Must be an enrolled citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.
Must be attending an institution of higher education, technical school, or vocational trade school.
Incoming freshmen must have a GPA of 3.0, or ACT score of 21.
Transfer or continuing college student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Must agree to authorize the Scholarship Foundation Program to publicize the scholarship award if selected.Students may submit one application per semester.Required Documents -In order to be considered for a scholarship please submit the following:Completed Scholarship Application Form
