Mosmiller Internship Program

Overview: AFE provides students interested in a career in floral operations a unique opportunity to perform a paid 10-16 week internship in wholesale, retail, or allied trade companies. Upon successful completion, students receive a $2,000 cash scholarship.

Geographic Scope: United States (training locations away from home/school preferred)

  • Eligibility:

  • Full-time, undergraduate students

  • Currently enrolled in a floriculture/environmental horticulture or business program at a 2- or 4-year college/university in the U.S. with a recognized floriculture program

  • Maintain a "C" or better GPA with satisfactory progress in degree or certificate program

  • Demonstrate outstanding potential and serious interest in a floral industry field
  • Internship Details:

  • Duration: 10-16 weeks (spring or fall preferred; summer allowed with valuable experience)

  • Paid by employer at fair market wage (not less than hourly minimum wage)

  • $500 of internship award available in advance for travel and relocation costs

  • Transportation costs to and from location are student's responsibility (less $500 advance)

  • Students must agree to fulfill employer responsibilities

  • Students must submit 500-word report evaluating experience within 30 days of completion

  • Internship placement and coordination

  • Scholarship upon satisfactory completion

  • Full travel/relocation costs (student responsible, though $500 advance provided)

    Application Process

    1. Student Application Steps:
    - Complete online application form
    - Provide faculty member with electronic copy of application for signature
    - Submit complete packet to AFE by deadline (March 1 or October 1)

    - Completed online application form (signed by faculty member)
    - Personal statement explaining reasons for applying
    - Official school transcripts from all institutions attended
    - Letter of recommendation and endorsement by faculty member
