Minnesota Pipe Trades Scholarship (Elmer Walls Memorial)
Overview: At least two scholarships are awarded annually in memory of Brother Elmer Walls to dependents of United Association members in good standing whose local union is affiliated with the Minnesota Pipe Trades Association.
- Amount: At least $1,000 per scholarship
- Number of Awards: At least 2 scholarships per year
- Payment Method: Checks issued in two payments, made out jointly to the recipient and the school selected for attendance
Award Details
- Applicant must be a dependent of a United Association member in good standing
- Member's local union must be affiliated with the Minnesota Pipe Trades Association
- Applicant must have obtained a "C+" or better average in their last school year
- Applicant must be attending or planning to attend an accredited Trade School, Junior College, College, or University as a full-time student
- One application per United Association member in good standing

- Recipients are selected by lottery drawing
- Winners are selected in August
Selection Process
- Documentation verifying C+ or higher average in the applicant's last school year must be submitted with the application
- Application must be signed by the Business Manager or Agent verifying application information is true and that the member submitting the application is a member in good standing
- Application must bear the United Association seal
