Overview

Who Are We & What Do We Do? The Mineral County Community Foundation (MCCF) is a non-profit organization committed to seeing the communities of Mineral County thrive. Through fundraising, investments, and grant writing, we identify needs in our communities and direct resources where they can do the most good. MCCF was established in 1994 in response to the closing of a major employer, the Crown Pacific sawmill in Superior. A citizen group met weekly to assist the County in coming up with solutions to the economic and social crisis of lost jobs. The group incorporated as the Mineral County Community Foundation and through their outreach a Japanese businessman, Akira Yamaguchi, gifted $95,000 to the non-profit for charitable and research purposes. The gift was placed in a permanent endowment fund with the Montana Community Foundation and was named the Mandala Fund in honor of Mr. Yamaguchi. The name has since been changed to the Mineral County Community Foundation Endowment Fund to eliminate confusion. With numerous fundraising efforts, art contests and silent auctions, along with earnings from the endowment, MCCF hosted a youth center (1997-2004) and a community garden involving area youth. MCCF also hosted an annual Car Show, during the first weekend in June as a fundraiser for student scholarships (2005-2019). Other projects that benefit the communities of Mineral County include a grant program (2006 – present) to support the good works of Mineral County Food Banks, Historical Society, Friends of the Library, and many more.
