'In Colorado, Certified Professional Midwives are not covered by Medicaid and have limited coverage with private insurance. To make midwifery care accessible, Community Roots started the Midwifery Service Fund (MSF) in 2016. The MSF allows those who have Medicaid or who are low-income receive midwifery care. Since its inception the MSF has given out over $140,000 in grants for prenatal, birth and postpartum care for birthing people and newborns.'
