Overview: Community Roots Midwife Collective started the Midwifery Service Fund in 2016 to make midwifery care accessible to those who cannot afford it.

Geographic Scope: Colorado (serves families within 25-mile radius from Longmont office, including Loveland, Broomfield, Nederland, Louisville, Lafayette, Lyons, Boulder, and surrounding communities)

  • Individuals with Medicaid

  • Impact to Date: Since inception in 2016, the MSF has distributed over $140,000 in grants for care.

    Background: In Colorado, Certified Professional Midwives are not covered by Medicaid and have limited coverage with private insurance. The MSF was created to address this gap and ensure access to midwifery care.
