McGlothlin Foundation Grant

The McGlothlin Foundation Grant supports philanthropic initiatives in higher education, healthcare, and the arts, focusing primarily on projects in Southwest Virginia, Eastern Kentucky, and Northeast Tennessee. The foundation prioritizes proposals from tax-exempt non-profits, especially for capital projects and programmatic needs. While there are no fixed grant sizes, organizations are encouraged to apply after prior awards have concluded. The foundation does not fund individuals or political activities, ensuring its resources enhance community infrastructure and cultural development.

Education
Whereas The McGlothlin Foundation's higher education focus will give primary concern to proposals for private institutions, some consideration will be given for state-supported colleges and universities. Higher education grants include support for brick and mortar proposals as well as aid for programmatic needs.
Health Care
The Foundation has an interest in providing grants to support hospitals and healthcare foundations with capital projects.
The Arts
The Foundation will provide grants for theatres and museums for capital projects.

Eligibility

The Foundation's geographic area of interest is for projects located within Southwest Virginia, Eastern Kentucky, and Northeast Tennessee.The Foundation makes grants to non-profit organizations that are tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and are not classified as private foundations. It accepts proposals from January through April of each year. Awards are made in December of each year. Only written proposals will be reviewed. Those applicants that have been turned down may re-submit one year after denial.There is no fixed minimum or maximum to the size of the grants, however, since the Foundation wishes to assist with capital projects it is preferred that the organizations will be considered only after the expiration of the grant period for any existing award from the Foundation.

Ineligibility

The Foundation does NOT intend to become part of the annual budget of any organization.The McGlothlin Foundation does not make grants to individuals, nor will it consider grants of a political nature.
