McCluskey Family Foundation: Trilogy Grants

The Ramsey McCluskey Family Foundation offers Trilogy Grants to organizations that have received at least three Single-Year grants. Each grant totals $25,000 over three years, with $10,000 in the first year and $7,500 in the following years. Limited to a 50-mile radius from MetroWest Boston, the Foundation prioritizes measurable projects in arts and general education. Only four Trilogy Grants are awarded annually, encouraging sustained educational engagement through hands-on experiences.

Only organizations that have received at least three Single Year grant awards from the Foundation are eligible to apply for a Trilogy Grant. We limit the number of applications for Trilogy Grants each year, organizations interested in applying should contact the Foundation to discuss.
Areas of Interest
The Foundation has two areas of interest which often coincide.
Arts Education: The Foundation will consider proposals for projects in any area of pre-school through high school hands-on arts education. We are particularly interested in projects with sustained contact for students. In 2020, almost three quarters of our grant budget went to arts education projects.
General Education: The Foundation will consider proposals for projects in Pre-school through High School level education. We are committed to helping students become excited and engaged in learning, whether it is in the school environment, after-school, or in other settings. In 2020, approximately one-quarter of the grant budget targeted general education projects.
Our Grants
The Foundation awards three types of grants each yearly grant cycle.
The Foundation has a yearly grant-making budget of approximately $250,000. Each year the Foundation awards eighteen to twenty-five Single-Year Grants, three or four Scholarship Fund Grants and four Trilogy Grants. Single-Year Grants may be up to $7500. Scholarship Fund Grants are for $2500. Trilogy Grants are three-year grants totaling $25,000 over three years ($10,000 in year one and $7500 in years two and three).
Trilogy Grants are three-year grants which award the grantee a total award of $25,000 spread over three consecutive years. The first year will be $10,000 and the second and third years will be $7500 per year. An organization receiving three single-year grants in consecutive years will need to take their one year “off” before applying for a Trilogy Grant. Only four Trilogy Grants will be awarded each year. An organization that is awarded a Trilogy Grant will be expected to provide yearly feedback and will be required to take one year off at the conclusion of the grant. Unsuccessful applicants for the Trilogy Grant will be automatically considered for a Single Year Grant.

Eligibility

The Foundation is local in scope and limits new grantmaking to a fifty mile radius of our MetroWest Boston (Lincoln) location.Grants are generally given for specific projects or programs that can show measurable results.

Ineligibility

Grants are usually not given for general operating expenses, endowments, sponsorship of performances, capital campaigns, or building funds.
