Educator Art Grants

The Westly Foundation's Educator Art Grants strengthen arts education in music, theater, dance and visual arts. Public school teachers in grades TK-8 can receive up to $500 to enhance their classroom and after-school arts programs.

Funds may cover art supplies, visiting artists, scripts, instruments, scores, sound equipment, stipends for after-school arts teaching, costumes, props or professional development.

Eligibility is limited to TK-8 teachers in these California school districts: Alum Rock, Belmont, Cabrillo, East Palo Alto, Franklin-McKinley, Menlo Park, Mountain View Whisman, Pescadero, Redwood City and San Carlos. Each school may receive up to three grants, and each teacher one. Teachers at the same grade level are encouraged to apply together.

Apply online through the Submit Grant button on the Westly Foundation's Art Grants page, entering contact and payment details and uploading a project description on school letterhead. The request must include:

• The school's Tax Identification Number or a nonprofit EIN affiliated with the school
• A line stating the amount to be made payable to the school and the activity it will fund
• The number of students who will benefit, the grade levels served and the period over which the funds will be used
• A budget or other itemization of how the money will be spent
• The address where the check should be mailed (the school's address)
• Signatures of both the submitting teacher and the school principal

Applying in summer or at the start of a semester is recommended, as grants can take up to six weeks to process.
