Long-Term Residency

Program Overview:
The Archie Bray Foundation offers a long-term artist residency program for ceramic artists. Residents receive studio space and access to facility resources. The foundation is looking for a good mixture of ceramic artists across various disciplines.

Special Notes:

  • In 2026, The Bray will celebrate its 75th anniversary and anticipates busier than usual programming

  • Residents will be asked to volunteer at receptions, especially the week of July 20-25

  • Studios are no longer first come, first served

  • Two application types available: one for US residents and one for international artists requiring visa sponsorship

    Application Period: September 30 - December 17 (annually)

    Required Materials:
    1. Preferred residency choices
    2. Résumé/CV
    3. Brief artist's statement
    4. Letter of intent stating artistic goals and interests in The Bray's residency program
    5. Contact information of 3 references (name, affiliation, phone number, and email address) - Note: Reference letters will not be accepted
    6. 20 digital images of recent work submitted as JPGs with title, year made, materials, and dimensions

    Image Specifications:

  • Files sized around 1800 x 1800 pixels at 72 dpi (approximately 6" x 6" at 300 dpi)

  • Do not submit images smaller than this requirement

  • Format: JPG only
  • International Applicants:

  • Must use separate international application form

  • Tourist and B visas are not acceptable

  • For residency period beginning May 31, 2027
