Our Mission Getty is a leading global arts organization committed to exhibiting, conserving, and understanding the world’s artistic and cultural heritage. Based in Los Angeles, Getty pursues its work with partners around the world, while sharing art, knowledge, and resources with the public online, and in-person at the Getty Center and Getty Villa. Graduate Internships Advanced internships at Getty for graduate students who are pursuing careers in the visual arts. Goal The Graduate Internship program provides training and work experience in departments across Getty that prepare graduate students for visual arts careers. Terms of the Grant Internships are located at the Getty Center in Los Angeles or the Getty Villa in Malibu. All positions are full-time for 12 months. The grant amount is $52,500 for twelve months, plus $1,500 towards relocation expenses. Interns receive seven days of paid vacation and all holidays observed by Getty. Housing is not provided. Support for research travel for up to $3,000 is provided for each participant. Graduate Interns are eligible to enroll in the Getty's health care plan. Please note that grant funds may be subject to federal and state taxes and deductions.

Eligibility

Internships are open to students of all nationalities.Applicants must be:Students currently enrolled in a graduate program (Master of Arts (M.A.), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), graduate conservation certificate, or their equivalents for international applicants) in a field relevant to the internship(s) for which they are applying. OR Individuals who have completed a relevant graduate degree (Master of Arts (M.A.), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), graduate conservation certificate, or their equivalents for international applicants) on or after January 1, 2021, with postgraduate activities in their field, paid or unpaid.In order to participate in a Getty internship program, foreign nationals must enter the U.S. with a J-1 visa in the Intern or Trainee category or must be in compliance with the U.S. Department of State Requirements of the F-1 Visa Program. Students who are in F-1 status when submitting a Getty internship application but who will have completed their studies (received their U.S. degree) before the start of the Getty internship, must allow for sufficient time outside the U.S. before applying for a J-1 visa.
