Summary

The Lisa S. Krivickas Clinician/Scholar Travel Award supports a female clinician to present her scholarly work in sports medicine or exercise science at the ACSM Annual Meeting. Preference is given to physicians and medical students with relevant research. Established in honor of Dr. Lisa S. Krivickas, the award recognizes her significant contributions to the field. Financial need is not a consideration, and previous recipients are ineligible to apply. This initiative aims to empower women in the medical community.

Travel and Research Awards Giving back to our members is one way ACSM invests in the future of sports medicine and exercise science. Students and professionals who meet eligibility criteria are welcome to apply for any of our prestigious research and travel awards. Lisa S. Krivickas Clinician/Scholar Travel Award Established in honor of esteemed member and trustee of ACSM, Lisa S. Krivickas, MD, FACSM, this award assists a female clinician with travel expenses to present her scholarly work on sports medicine or exercise science at the ACSM Annual Meeting. While all types of clinicians are invited to apply, preference will be given to physicians (MD/DO or equivalent) and medical students in good standing with a research focus on sports medicine and exercise science emulating the legacy and work of Dr. Krivickas. Financial need will not be a consideration for the application process. Dr. Krivickas was a distinguished scholar and compassionate clinician known for her significant contributions to physical medicine and rehabilitation. Graduating with distinction from Cornell University and earning her medical degree from Harvard, she held notable positions at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Krivickas, an internationally recognized team physician, received numerous awards for her achievements in research, clinical care, teaching, and mentoring. Courageously volunteering as the first person with ALS to undergo a novel treatment, she passed away on September 22, 2009. In her honor, a clinician/scholar travel award fund was established to recognize her impact on sports medicine and exercise science.

Eligibility

Applicants must be female.  Applicants must be the first author and presenter of an abstract and/or presentation accepted at the ACSM Annual Meeting. You must be a member of this organization to apply for this award - become a member. Applicants must be an ACSM national member in good standing before applying. ACSM chapter membership alone does not fulfill this requirement.

Ineligibility

Previous recipients of the Lisa S. Krivickas Clinician/Scholar Travel Award are not eligible to apply.
